So, no final curve ball from Elon Musk as his $44 billion takeover of Twitter finally closes.
Some long term investors will breathe a sigh of relief after Twitter shares plunged to as low as $14 over the last few years.
But several hedge funds, such as Evan Tindell's Bireme Capital, will be cracking open the expensive champagne after making a fortune on the deal trade...

Is it safe to assume that the $44 Twitter takeover deal will complete this Friday now that Elon Musk has changed his profile on the micro blogging site to "Chief Twit"?
Well, there was also a picture of Elon Musk carrying a sink (whatever that is supposed to imply) into the Twitter headquarters circulating the internet and Twittersphere.
Still, there is always a risk of another Musk curve ball .....

There appear to be some investors who reckon Elon Musk won't be able to back out of his $44 billion Twitter takeover bid.
Roy Boehren, who runs the $5 billion merger arb fund for US-based Westchester Capital, told the Financial Times today that: "Twitter should continue to trade well above the standalone value of the company. The company has the better argument and there is validity to the merger agreement that should be enforced."..

That was quick!
Elon Musk has agreed a deal with Twitter's board to purchase the microblogging site for $44 billion.
Now, the financial media commentariat's focussing (mainly on Twitter, ironically) on what the maverick billionaire plans to with the site, with many concerned about the negative impact.
Strange, though, that the idea of a counterbid to Musk's offer appears to have completely dissapeared from the general discourse.....

So, it was good call by my old boss at The Daily Telegraph - Richard Fletcher, now business editor of The Times - to splash on the Elon Musk Twitter bid rumours the other day.
Musk's announcement about his $41 billion ($54.20 a share) offer for Twitter has sent the Twittersphere into total meltdown about what might happen next...
