Direct Line said to have received and rejected Ageas takeover approach, reveals Bloomberg

Arch rivals at Bloomberg have pulled their socks up a bit and are digging out a few decent scoops again.

According to Bloomie hacks Jan-Henrick Foerster and Pamela Barbaglia, ailing FTSE 250-listed insurer Direct Line received a takeover approach from Belgian insurer Ageas.

What's up with Direct Line?

Direct Line's shares are up 10pc at pixel time.

To be clear I have no idea why and this website has NOT published an intelligence alert on the company today.

However, one assumes if there is anything going on from an M&A perspective then some sort of announcement is imminent.

Ackman in the running for FTSE 100 promotion, again...

There seems to be an awful lot of excitement in the mainstream business press about which companies are going to be promoted to, and demoted from, the FTSE 100 index.

I suppose there are a dearth of corporate stories around given it's the back end of a summer that has also had to contend with a pandemic. So, the latest quarterly reshuffle will help fill some space (and pixels)...
