So, it would appear this Hassan Gozal chap is a rather savvy punter after all!
The construction tycoon with ties to Turkey, Kurdistan and Azerbaijan has quietly been building a stake in Genel Energy via his vehicle Daax Corp, an Azeri conglomerate. Here is a link to Betaville's previous piece published in July:

And today Genel Energy shares rallied 25pc to 155p on news the controversial oil company and DNO of Norway, two of the big foreign oil producers in the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region of Iraq, have reached “landmark” agreements with the local government to settle payments they were owed for exports of crude.
And Betaville understands there may more "interesting" news about Genel to come out in the not too distant future.
