Is the tide turning for Odey the Brexiteer? The series returns, again. - Part 2

Perhaps it isn't all bad news for Crispin Odey: his chum, British prime minister Boris Johnson, won a huge majority for the Tories on Friday.

That comes after Odey called on British business leaders to back Boris in an interview with yours truly for the Mail on Sunday's business section over the summer. Below is a link:

Now, there is speculation doing the rounds in Financial News that Boris is set to send Crispin to the House of Lords as Lord Odey of Mayfair following his vociferous support for the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Below is a link to a diary item by the execellent Financal News diarist Tom Teodorczuk on the rumour:

Such a move would really annoy the conspiracy theory remainers and rival City bigwigs who have sought a peerage ( i.e. Michael Spencer) but failed to get one because of the scandals that engulfed their firms during the financial crisis a decade ago.

It would also take the edge off another tough period for charming Crispin, who has seen his flagship Odey European Fund fund perform badly, again (down around 19pc according to HSBC), and is currently getting turned over by former intelligence because he was shorting German payment giant Wirecard.
