Why George Osborne may be pleased...

Jim Armitage landed a cracking scoop this morning for the Evening Standard, now edited by the former Chancellor of the Exchequer, about how two London-listed TV production companies are in merger talks.

The hard-working business editor published the tale about an hour ago about how Zinc Media - the TV production company set up under its old name of Ten Alps by Bob Geldof - is mulling an all-share tie-up with Brave Bison, the YouTube movie-maker run by Kelvin MacKenzie’s son.
