UNCOOKED ALERT: Orange SA said to ... - Part 3

Wednesday, 1 December 2021, 3:25 pm

Atos, the ailing French IT company, has finally been deleted from the MSCI Indices, which has forced passive tracker funds to offload around 8 million shares in the business.

Now, in case you don't recall around about this time of the year in 2017 Gemalto, another ailing French cybersecurity company, was deleted from the MSCI Standard Series Index.

And what happened a week after - Gemalto received a hostile offer from, er, Atos (after multiple Betaville RARE stories - that were denied - that the latter was looking at the former).

In the end, though, it was Thales, the aerospace and defence conglomerate, that bought Gemalto for EURO 4.8 billion as part of a neat "French solution" (they almost always are in domestic French M&A).

Anyway, Betaville is just pointint this out as sometimes history does repeat itself.

And sometimes it doesn't. Let's see.....
