UNCOOKED ALERT: J Sainsbury said to ... - Part 5

Rivals at the The Times have landed a cracking tail about how J Sainsbury has appointed uber dealmakers Robey Warshaw as its new "defence" advisor amid speculation it might soon be on the receiving end of a takeover offer (read Betaville's part 1, 2, 3 and 4 if you need reminding of the bid rumours).

Hat tip to Ashley Armstrong, retail hackette on The Times, for landing such a good tale and my old boss, Richard "Fletch" Fletcher, for splashing the whole of The Times business section on it.

I remember pitching a similar type of story about Robey Warshaw's appointment as a defence advisor to SAB Miller in the summer of 2015 to a couple of former business editors of British newspapers only for them to dismiss the story's importance altogether. A few weeks later AB Inbev launched a £75 billion takeover bid for the FTSE 100-listed giant. Anyway, that's enough dwelling on Betaville's past successes (or failures - depends on how you look at it). Below is a link to Ashley's great scoop from today's section:

The one thing, though, about Ashley's great scoop on the front page that Betaville did notice was that there wasn't a single mention of George Osborne, the former Chancellor of the Exchequer who recently joined Robey Warshaw as its newest partner.

I wonder why...?..
